Week Two

Jewish Roots

Since the days when the Rudolph family attended Beth Messiah Congregation in Maryland, Rabbi Jerry Miller has been a long-time friend of Gateways Beyond International. He has been a forerunner for the Messianic movement and a Father figure to many, teaching on the roots of our faith and a Biblical perspective of Israel’s role in the last days. The GBNW Community was provoked and inspired by Rabbi Jerry’s teaching on Romans 9-11, and intercession was released for both the Jews and the Gentiles to be reconciled as One New Man in Messiah. The week ended with an outpouring of the Spirit, and a cry was released, “Come Yeshua, Come!”

Tree of Reconciliation
by Brad

Wild olive branch
Rejoice with me, we are grafted into the tree!
Pride and arrogance will be our fall
If we miss His heart for all
Don’t lose sight of His chosen one
Israel will bud and blossom
In the love of a Son
Jealousy provocation is our job
Lead them back to their God
Jew and Gentile will both be free
When looking up from the foot of that tree!

Practical Acts of Service

Ps 82:3-4
3 Defend the poor and fatherless;
Do justice to the afflicted and needy.
4 Deliver the poor and needy;
Free them from the hand of the wicked.

This week we served the local community in Spokane as we responded to the mandate to defend the fatherless by serving the Sellers family. Mrs. Sellers is in need of the body of Messiah to respond as she is 6 months pregnant, bed-ridden with 4 daughters under the age of 12. She had been away from the Lord for sometime but saw the love of Yeshua through the practical acts of service by the students and staff. Mrs. Sellers gladly received prayer and even the baby inside became very active as Rachel prayed a blessing over the baby’s life.

Student Led – Susanna

The Increase

Every Friday morning a different student has the opportunity to preach and share the revelation of the Word that God has placed in their heart. This week Susanna brought a powerful exhortation filled with illustrations on how God wants us to know His fullness in experiencing His love.  Like a rainbow full of color, each nation represents different callings and colors that God is using to make one beautiful picture! “Each person holds the character of God and in our fullness we each express a part of Him. We need each other!”

Phil 2:1&2  Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

Base Shabbat

The rhythm of life surrounds our weekly celebration of Shabbat in the Gateways community. It is a time to look back on the week to see all God has done in and through us and is primarily a time to enter in God’s rest and peace. Friday night we dress up and eat a long-awaited dinner, followed by dessert and dancing! Base Shabbats are a more intimate time for the student body and base staff to fellowship together.

The theme for dinner was Asian and on the menu was Orange Chicken, homemade mushroom dumplings and homemade apple pie! This week we were surprised in the making of orange chicken when we saw the food completely double! Xaundelle was concerned there wouldn’t be enough chicken and next thing we knew we had a double portion.

One of the reflections during the Shabbat meal is on God’s provision for the Israelites.  He gave them a double portion of manna when they were wandering in the desert so they would not have to gather on the Sabbath. We were all thankful for the double portion of orange chicken, which made for awesome leftovers the next night– Asian chicken wraps!

Game Night

Anytime these students gather they gravitate toward the instruments!  During game night at the Dude Mansion this week, Berna, Brad, and Becca were all drawn to Alicia’s upright piano that stands beautifully in her home. They played music, and the whole group played Apples to Apples.  Everyone also enjoyed fresh-baked cookies and coffee.
